Wait, did I call it a toy??

While I was busy saying that my sequencer helped make the SX-150 into more of a viable sound-making tool, this guy was making an ass out of me.

Ok, so that was a couple years ago, but it's still awesome, and it's great to see the SX-150 being used as a real instrument. I still think it's pretty hard to control with just the stylus and a sequencer gives you more to work with, but this is pretty awesome.

The power of linking

Wow, you folks are going crazy! For a while I was limping along with 10-20 hits per day -- not too bad considering that I don't get around to posting here very much -- but in the last few days that's jumped up to the 200-300/day range!

It all started when Shawn Augustson of ArduinoFun.com contacted me about including one of my postings in his Arduino project contest. I honestly felt that mine was pretty poor compared to some of the entrants, but it sure was cool to be recognized.

From there it got picked up by MakeZine.com, which was amazing (and that's when my traffic shot up). And from there it looks like I got picked up by Arduer.com which is an Italian-language arduino blog.

Of course, it all seems to be for the 7-segment LED posting, which I think is actually a lot less interesting and technically compelling than the 555 Timer posting, but hey, I'll take it :)

I'm currently working on a little project involving a do-it-yourself analog synth and the Arduino...let's see if that attracts the same interest.

Waking up after a long sleep

So, I came home last year after PDC and was just too wiped out to blog much. Then work got crazy, then we had a huge snow event, Christmas, the new year, and then, oh, about 8 months and 12 days of absolute insanity.

Things aren't any less insane... but I am tired of not blogging about it.

I'm not doing the Virtual Earth work much any more, but I'll find some interesting technical topics to dig into here. The wine stuff is still going strong, I'm making a go at some internet radio, and I'm trying to do more reading... I'll come up with something interesting to talk about.

Recovering from PDC

PDC 2008 was a heck of a show. Every day, I was on the floor with members of the Virtual Earth product & marketing teams, extolling the virtues of the fine product. Met with hundreds of people, answered dozens of questions. Long days and sore feet.

I'm still recovering from the show, and getting ready for a crazy week at work. And to recover I'm playing Fallout 3. So I'll get back to posting real soon, but I just wanted to say that I hadn't forgotten about the blog. :)
